WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL STUCK?
If you are in a situation where you feel extremely stuck and don’t know how to get out, then this is the article for you.
Currently a family doctor in the US, a clinical instructor for medical students in the US, and the founder of The Phoenix Medical Academy, I have had certain successes.
However, what you probably don’t know is that in order to have the success I have today, I have gone through many hardships and hardships. I used to have to work three jobs at once, and also filed nails and rubbed other people’s feet to have money for school and to help my family.
Through it all, I realized that the most important thing that helped me overcome these difficulties to get where I am today is a change in thinking.
Today I want to share with you in the hope that you can also achieve more. many successes in life.
1. THINK OF CREATIVE SOLUTIONS
The turning point in my thinking began when I was in 2nd grade in Vietnam. At that time, I saw my friends in the neighborhood using handheld electronic devices to play puzzles. I see you guys playing like that and I really want it too and I don’t know how to get that toy.
At that time, my family was not well off enough to let my children buy many toys.
There was a psychological burden on me, that is, I was from a poor family and I didn’t want to be a burden to my family, I didn’t want to ask my mother to give me money so I could rent that machine to play.
I don’t want to be a demanding child. If I see that my friends have them, I have to have them too. However, in my heart, I really liked it but didn’t dare say it.
At that time, I tried to think about how to solve this problem in the most complete way. I keep thinking about it. And then I came up with an idea that I would give my opinion to my mother and put it on paper that I see that the children in the neighborhood really like to play this game.
Now, Mom, spend some money, buy me 5 of these machines and we will rent them to the friends in the neighborhood, then how long will it take for us to get our capital back, and have a little more profit. Besides, I will also be able to play poker and not feel guilty towards my family.
And at that time, my mother agreed to the idea of buying 5 machines to rent to friends in the neighborhood. My mother told me:
“You will help me rent it to my friends and keep a record of who rented it, from what time to what time, you have to help me like that”.
So I help my mother and she will support me when I go to school. This is also my first business start-up.
At that time, I realized that in life there are many creative solutions and if we dare to think, dare to step out of our comfort zone, dare to do things that others do not dare to do, and step out of the invisible limits of life or of ourselves, we will go very far.
2. SEARCH FOR HELP AND SEIZE OPPORTUNITIES
The second experience was when I went to America.
At that time I was in 10th grade and on summer vacation for 3 months. I have nothing to do and am thinking about how to earn more income. At that time, my family had just come to America, so it was very difficult.
I decided to apply for a job at McDonalds – a fast food store, near my home. When I entered, I saw a lot of other high school students also working and when I went in and asked for an interview, I didn’t get the job.
I was very sad, I saw that my English wasn’t that bad and this was just a simple job making fast food, the salary wasn’t high. Why didn’t people accept me?
At that time, I talked to my teachers and also shared with them that I wanted to find more work to do this summer.
I applied for jobs that were easy to get near home but no one accepted me. She shared with me a scholarship where I could do an internship with a Master of Science.
At that time, I immediately grabbed the opportunity and signed up for that scholarship. I wrote an essay about what the scholarship entailed. And finally, I was accepted into that internship program.
During the summer, I will work for them and apprentice for 8 weeks with a Doctor in biology. Besides, I will be paid an additional $3000. Thanks to this money, I was able to buy a car and use that car to go to work for that internship.
After the internship ended, I still had the car left to use for going to school and doing other things in the future.
I am very grateful that I shared those difficult things with her at that time and she opened up a new direction for me.
Sometimes, we ourselves feel stuck and it seems like there is no solution, others will bring it to us. different views.
They will introduce us to different views and new opportunities from which we can overcome our difficulties.
3. FLEXIBLE
And one thing I noticed here is that sometimes what happens to us is not according to our initial wishes.
But life has very good ways and as long as we always try and don’t give up, life will turn around in some way and lead us to a solution, a better direction than the original direction we hoped for.
4. ESCAPE THE SAFE ZONE
When I was in college, I really wanted to go back to Vietnam to visit my homeland. At that time, I worked a little to support my studies and support my family and personal expenses for myself.
I went online to find out how to earn extra income, to be able to travel and I saw many people and many friends sharing how they use credit cards and from there we can have a way to travel for free and at less cost.
In time. In America, there are always two views on using credit cards. My family and many adults have a negative view of credit cards, because they are worried that having a credit card will naturally lead to bad habits of wasting money. Thus, it will put me on a bad path in the future.
On the other hand, I learn from travel bloggers, people who travel a lot and they share their experiences about using credit cards, and they use that credit card for necessary expenses in life.
For example: I pay for books, clothes, food, gas, rent. etc. Those money are very necessary for daily life and I can use credit cards, I can accumulate points and from that point I can convert them into money and can exchange them for plane tickets, I can exchange them for hotel rooms, for example.
When I learned these things, I wanted to give myself a chance and I decided that I would register for a credit card. I promise myself that I will use this credit card responsibly.
Every month I will repay the debt on time and I will never let the bank charge interest on the amount I use.
It is with the mindset of wanting to try new things, stepping out of my comfort zone, and wanting to find creative solutions to solve my problems that I signed up for a credit card. Thanks to that, I had a plane ticket to visit Vietnam.
Later, I used the benefits from the credit card to buy plane tickets and rent a hotel for my interview. Because every time we go to an interview when applying to medical school because every time we go to an interview like that, we often travel to many states and are quite expensive.
It is thanks to the mindset of always asking ourselves “What can I do in this situation to overcome difficulties, to find a solution to the problem” that has helped me a lot in life.
If you are facing a difficulty or problem If the problem seems hopeless, before giving up, I hope that you will also give yourself a chance.
Opportunity to find creative solutions. Opportunity for success.
Wishing you a new week full of energy and success!
