Frequently asked questions
What should I do if my medical school is not yet accredited?
You can go to the US to re-study 4 years of medical school in the US and continue to pursue the residency path. However, this path will be quite competitive and requires a large investment for 4 years of medical school tuition.
If the medical school you graduated from is not accredited but you have a postgraduate degree from an accredited school, is it valid?
Unfortunately, currently ECFMG only accepts UNIVERSITY GRADUATE candidates from recognized schools, so your graduate degree cannot help you in this case.
If you graduated from a doctor of traditional medicine, preventive medicine, public health, bachelor's degree in nursing, or laboratory testing from an accredited medical school, are you eligible?
Currently, the US side only accepts candidates with a Doctor of Medicine (General) degree, otherwise other majors will not be eligible to register. For more details, you can refer to ECFMG’s official website here.
