Many people think that working as a doctor in America has:
* Better system
* Higher salary
* Life is more stable
And these things are absolutely true.
But if you think just being good will make you okay… you’ll be shocked.
Because the most difficult thing here is not what you know.
It’s that doctors don’t have as many decisions as you think.
And before you think: “Is it the same in Vietnam?”
Are not. Not the same.
In America, there is a principle that completely changes the way you work as a doctor: Patients have more decision-making power than doctors.
You can:
* Know the diagnosis clearly
* Know the best treatment direction
* Knowing clearly that if they don’t do it, they will be at risk
But if they say “no,” the answer is still “no.”
Not: “Do what the doctor said.”
Which is: You must persuade, but not impose.
And there will be very difficult days:
👉 You know you can help more
👉 But you are not allowed to decide for them
No one talks about that feeling.
The feeling of knowing what is right, but not being able to do anything about it.
It’s not a lack of knowledge.
It’s a completely different type of pressure.
In this system, you are more than just a doctor.
You must be:
* Explain clearly enough for the patient to understand
* Respect their decisions
* And accept the results even if you don’t agree
As a doctor, you have no control over the outcome.
You only control:
* How you explain
* How you are present
* And how you keep yourself from getting carried away
I have met many good doctors.
But the person who can survive here is not the best.
Which person:
👉 Tolerate not having control over everything
👉 Work well with people, not just with diseases
👉 And don’t lose yourself in the process
Being a doctor in America is not difficult because of lack of knowledge.
Which is difficult because you have to accept that you are not the final decision maker.
I share these things not to compare or say which place is better.
But just so you understand: each system has a different way of operating and requires a different set of skills.
If you are interested in this path, hopefully this article will help you see a little more clearly about the actual way of working in America, beyond what is often seen in movies or social networks.
And when you understand better from the beginning, you will be better prepared for your journey.
